Officer Stabbed In Neck At Airport Recovering Well

In Flint, Michigan, on Wednesday, at the city airport an incident shock the facility, it was after a Canadian National stabbed a police officer while yelling "Allahu Akbar" and he also referencing the incident with the people killed in the Middle East violence by the US.

The maintenance worker, who was not identified, jumped in and helped restrain the attacker, who allegedly assaulted airport police officer Lt. Jeff Neville outside the airport's TSA screening area Wednesday morning, Lt. Dan Owen of the airport Fire Department said Thursday.

Trauma surgeon Donald Scholten says Neville suffered a twelve-inch slash to his neck, which was life-threatening.

"This was a matter of millimeters", says Scholten.

Hospital officials in Flint, Michigan, are expected to discuss the medical condition of an airport officer stabbed during what federal officials are investigating as an act of terrorism.

Flint is about 50 miles northwest of Detroit.

After that purchase failed, Ftouhi made a decision to attack with a knife, which he bought in the United States, authorities said.

Once in the US, he unsuccessfully tried to buy a gun at Gibraltar Trade Center in Mt. Clemens, but instead managed to buy a knife.

Ftouhi, 49, is accused of stabbing the officer in the neck while shouting “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is great).

Ftouhi yelled the world "Allah" several times during the struggle and also said something the Federal Bureau of Investigation paraphrased as, "You have killed people in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die". They believe Ftouhi acted alone.

The man, Amor M. Ftouhi, entered the United States from Canada last Friday, crossing over in his auto into upstate NY and making his way to MI on Sunday.

Ftouhi, originally from Tunisia and who holds dual Tunisian-Canadian citizenship, legally entered the United States from Lake Champlain, New York, on June 16 before making his way to Flint, Gelios said. He is married and has three children. He claimed that he had no mental, health, drug or alcohol problems.

The FBI said the suspect was in custody and was being questioned.

Police in Canada were searching a Montreal apartment. He legally entered the USA through NY on June 16.

Neville was able to subdue Ftouhi, who asked him why he did not kill him.
