"We held extensive discussions on opportunities in India", Modi tweeted after the meeting that lasted for about 90 minutes.

The three-million-strong Indian-American community, which represents the best of both the countries, has played a crucial role in connecting and contributing to the two societies, Modi said. "Now terrorists have explained terrorism to them so we don't have to".

He continued that, "Whenever India and the US work together, the world reaps the benefits - be it our collaborative efforts to find affordable vaccines for rotavirus or dengue, our joint studies of gravitational waves, observations of distant planets, establishing norms for cyberspace, providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the Indo-Pacific region, or training peacekeepers in Africa".

"The whole world is looking at India".

Indirectly targeting China, Modi said that unlike some nations India believed in following the world order and achieved its goals by following global rules. "You have effortlessly gelled with the culture of the country you have been", he said and added that they were the "real ambassadors of India" in Portugal.

During his address, Modi briefly talked about his government's economic programmes and India's space triumphs, including the launch of 30 satellites at one go yesterday. "Whenever the need arises we have done it and the world will never be able to stop us", he told the gathering.

A Hindu nationalist, Modi was effectively barred from the United States for years after deadly communal riots in the western state of Gujarat while he was chief minister. I am also connected with it. After listing the achievements of his government, he praised External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for demonstrating proper use of social media in good governance.

"The implementation of the landmark initiative of GST could be a subject of studies in USA business schools", Modi told the gathering, according to a tweet by Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesman Gopal Baglay.

He said that over 80,000 Indians were facing some trouble or the other in different corners of the globe but the Indian government was able to bring them safely back home. "A daughter of India, who landed in distress in Pakistan, returned to India through efforts of Indian High Commission".

Modi will try to strengthen ties that have appeared to loosen. Always impressed, energized by optimism and invention in India. While addressing the community, PM Modi said that that he has travelled across United States of America before he became a Chief Minister or Prime Minister but after taking over as PM, the warmth the Indian community gave is memorable.

"The President and the Prime Minister will discuss ongoing cooperation, including counterterrorism, defence partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, global cooperation, burden-sharing, trade, law enforcement and energy".
