North Korea calls death of US student a 'mystery'

It said that the USA doctors who traveled to North Korea to retrieve Warmbier "recognized that his health indicators like pulse, temperature, respiration and the examination result of the heart and lung were all normal and that we provided him with medical treatment and brought him back alive whose heart was almost stopped".

Warmbier's release coincided with former basketball star Dennis Rodman's latest visit to North Korea, though United States national security spokesman Michael Anton denied there was a connection between the two. The commentary asserts that President Harry Truman entered the Korean War in 1950 in a bid to distract from economic problems in the United States and that President Bill Clinton launched a military attack on Iraq in 1998 when faced with an investigation of his sex life.

"The fact that Warmbier died suddenly in less than a week just after his return to the U.S. in his normal state of health indicators is a mystery to us as well", he said.

After a one-hour trial in March 2016, Warmbier was convicted and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.

Despite the tour group's many reassurances, however, Warmbier's father has accused the company of "luring young Americans" to North Korea.

Otto Warmbier (22) was arrested in the reclusive communist country while visiting as a tourist.

The agency did not provide further details on how Mr Warmbier was treated under detention or what might have caused him to lapse into a coma.

Moon, who had promised during election season to improve North-South relations, is now "foolishly" criticizing Pyongyang's nuclear and missile weapons, the KCNA said.

Asked whether Trump had lost faith in China's ability to restrain North Korea, Mattis said the president's view represented Americans' "frustration" with Pyongyang's provocations and after seeing "a young man go over there healthy, and with a minor act of mischief, come home dead, basically".

A crowd of some 2,000 people filled a high school auditorium in Otto Warmbier's hometown of OH to celebrate his life.

Tourism to North Korea "helps to fund one of the most brutal and despotic regimes in the world", Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said Tuesday in a statement to USA Today.

He was then rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where doctors said Warmbier was suffering from "severe neurological injury" and had slipped into what they called a state of unresponsive wakefulness.

"He had a deep desire to know God in a personal way", Thomas said.

"I was just so happy to see the kid released", Rodman told ABC News in an interview.

He said the last conversation he had with the Warmbier family was shortly after they learned of their son's condition, but he hopes he can continue to advise them in the future.

North Korea also called Warmbier's death a "mystery to us as well", and noted that another USA citizen, Evan Hunziker, died shortly after his release from North Korea in 1996 but his death did not receive the same attention from the USA government.

China, North Korean's main trading partner, has been accused of not fully enforcing existing United Nations sanctions on its neighbor, and has resisted some tougher measures. "To make it clear, we are the biggest victim of this incident".
