After more than five decades of relatively little change, new physically diverse Ken dolls have arrived.

Ken is getting a makeover and will be sporting 15 new looks, including cornrows, a beefy bod and new skin tones.

The item description states the bun hairstyle helps to "complete the look" and the added fashion options can expand the storytelling options for play.

The new Ken dolls join an expanded Barbie Fashionistas line. The new collection of Barbie's boyfriend includes three body types, seven skin tones, eight hair colours and nine hairstyles, as well as "modernised fashions", which mean Ken can is now dressed in both business attire and sportswear.

New skin tones, hairstyles, body types and even eye colors have been created in an expansion of the brand's "Fashionistas" line. Well, we're pleased to inform you today that Mattel has heard your cries and given Ken a man bun.

In addition to the buzzy new Ken dolls, the company also ushered in 25 additional female dolls - each of which fall under one of the aforementioned body types. Barbie received a similar overhaul more than a year earlier.

After a rise in sales for the first three quarters of a year ago following the release of the new Barbie line, Mattel reported a bigger-than-expected drop in sales in April, saying Barbie sales declined 13 percent in the last quarter. However, the company's 2017 first-quarter figures are back down 15 percent.

Does Barbie want Ken to be slim or hunky?

The El Segundo, California-based company also announced new Barbie looks Tuesday, including one with a almost shaved head and another with an Afro. The dolls cost $9.99 individually, $16.99 in a two pack, or $23.99 for a three pack.
