According to fresh reports in France, Wenger has spoken to Mbappe over the phone to discuss where he sees his career going and in the hope he can persuade him to join Arsenal.

And the success that Henry, and other young French players like Patrick Vieira, Nicolas Anelka and Robert Pires, enjoyed under the guidance, coaching and tutelage of Wenger is reportedly a rather convincing reason for Mbappe to make the move to North London.

Monaco are determined to keep hold of their prized asset, who has two years left on his current contract. He made quite the impact last season as he functioned brilliantly in a young Monaco team and put up winning performances which made nearly every manager sit up and take note of his talent.

Arsene Wenger is a big admirer of the striker, who scored 26 goals in his first full season with Monaco, and played a key role in helping them win a first Ligue 1 title in 20 years as well as making the semi-finals of the Champions League. The club fared well even in the prestigious Champions League and Mbappe received plenty of praise for his electrifying performances.

Arsenal made a £35million bid for Lacazette last summer that was rejected - the French club will demand significantly more this year.

Liverpool remain realistic though and believe if Mbappe prefers a move to Real Madrid they would be unlikely to convince him to choose Anfield instead.

Alberto Moreno barely featured for Liverpool last season but the Reds have put a £15m price tag on the Spanish left-back, writes the Daily Telegraph. According to the Daily Mirror, the French giants are willing to exceed the £89m fee Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba to steal a march on their rivals in the race to recruit Ligue 1 victor Mbappe.
