News broke out Friday, June 16th, that the Philadelphia 76ers are in trade discussions with the Boston Celtics to acquire the first-overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, it is possible the deal will be agreed upon by day's end.

According to sources, prior to making a blockbuster trade with the Celtics to land the first overall pick in Thursday's draft, National Basketball Association executives were exepecting Philly to be very a major player for sharp-shooting free ageny J.J. Redick in free agency.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 25 games during his lone college season at Washington, excelling on a team that finished 9-22 and lost its final 13 games.

Multiple media outlets reported the deal will happen and once it becomes official, the 76ers intend to use the pick on Fultz in Thursday's draft at Barclays Center in NY.

After earlier rumors suggested that a blockbuster trade was going to take place between the Celtics and the 76ers for the No. 1 draft pick, it looks like it's actually going to happen.

As expected, the pick is going to be used on Markelle Fultz.

"It would be pretty cool". Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported Saturday night that the Celtics would receive No. 3 this year and the Lakers' protected 2018 selection in a deal that could be announced as soon as Monday.

"I'm truly blessed to be in this position", Fultz said. Here are three reasons Danny Ainge might regret trading the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA Draft to the Philadelphia 76ers. "I'm pretty happy that the players here want me to come here". Many around the league believe Boston will take another crack at Butler this offseason; the Celtics would still be able to create enough cap room even if they got Butler to make a max offer to an unrestricted free agent this summer.

If the 76ers make this trade with the Celtics it may improve their team but it will also hurt them down the road. "So a lot of my family can come out and just show love, and this city has great fans".

They were rivals for one season in the Pac-12. Fultz received a warm welcome from the 76ers star frontcourt in Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Dario Saric.

"[The last few days have] been insane, man", Fultz said. Like I said, a dream I always had.
