President Attacks James Comey, Democrats And Mainstream Media — Trump Twitter Comments

President Trump's picking and choosing which parts of James Comey's testimony he says are true, and which are false.

President Donald Trump and Romanian President Klaus Werner Iohannis walk to the Rose Garden for their joint news conference at the White House, June 9, 2017.

"We were very, very happy, and, frankly, James Comey confirmed a lot of what I said, and some of the things that he said just weren't true", Trump said.

Harvard Law School professor Mark Tushnet said onlookers should keep in mind that Comey knows much more than he can say, calling his testimony a "big deal".

"Knowing my father for 39 years when he "orders or tells" you to do something there is no ambiguity, you will know exactly what he means", Trump Jr. wrote.

"Yes, I was on Judiciary Cmte that impeached Clinton/sent him for trial in the Senate for matters less serious than the ones before us now", Inglis tweeted Friday.

One of Trump's favorite targets in his presidency and campaign has been the mainstream media.

Comey is unlikely to play any sort of direct role in the investigation now led by special counsel Robert Mueller, his predecessor as FBI director. Either Trump has been dishonest or Comey was, and even the Republicans on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence seemed to acknowledge Comey's credibility. Suffice it to say, when Tony Soprano says, "Nice place you got here; hope nothing happens to it", buy fire insurance.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told President Trump to "knock it off" with tweets about ex-FBI chief James Comey, during an interview on CBS "Face the Nation" on Sunday.

That tweet has prompted repeated demands from the congressional committees investigating any possible collusion between Trump's team and Russian Federation during the 2016 campaign, and the process by which he fired Comey, for him to hand over any tapes that exist. "As i used to tell juries, when i talked about a witness, you can't cherry pick it", said Comey in his testimony.

Comey suggested in his high-profile Senate testimony last week that any recordings would back up his account over the president's, adding, "Lordy, I hope there are tapes". His harshest criticism was of Trump, but he also was critical of himself, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Yet Comey seemed to be following the path of the legendary Federal Bureau of Investigation chief who infamously kept dossiers on all politicians as he brazenly admitted leaking his talks with Trump to the media through a friend hoping to trigger the appointment of a special counsel.

Democrats have gone from alleging that President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to insisting that Trump committed obstruction of justice.

Oliver then rolled a clip from the testimony in which Comey refused to respond in an open setting to the question, "Do you believe Donald Trump colluded with Russian Federation?" "Think of that. I hardly know the man", Trump said.

Later in the morning, for instance, as Comey was still testifying, Trump met with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and national security adviser H.R. McMaster about foreign policy issues.
