Warriors Dominate Cavaliers, Take Game 1 of the NBA Finals

They scored 21 points off 20 Cavaliers turnovers while making only four giveaways, tying the fewest by any team in any NBA Finals game.

Despite the Golden State Warriors' grabbing a win in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, there are growing rumblings that All-Star guard Klay Thompson could be unhappy with his role on the team.

Both teams watched film Friday but did not practice. In the 14 Finals games over three years against the Cavs, the Warriors are 5-2 when Curry scores at least 26 points. He has spent his career, even the best parts, as second best.

In the first half of their blowout over the Cavs, Kevin Durant started a fast break.

When asked about the incident during a post-game presser, KD said: "I don't even remember that".

Today's National Basketball Association isn't the sort of league where someone is going to clothesline Durant or any other Warrior to send some sort of foolish overly physical message, nor should it be. I thought we did a poor job of taking care of the basketball.

In their nightmares the Cavaliers will see Durant sprinting down the middle of the court, and slamming down an uncontested dunk.

“Its no ifs, ands, or buts, ” James said. Stephen Curry pitched in 28 points and 10 assists, and with that you end up with a rout - the Warriors won 113-90 to take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals. Not only are they historically good offensively, they're nearly as good defensively too. Durant had spent the last nine days deep in study, searching for ways to slow down the best player on the planet, and maybe to prove he deserves consideration for the honorific.

In compiling a 13-0 record, the Warriors have limited opponents to 41.1-percent shooting overall and an adjusted field-goal percentage of 46.3.

When Cleveland stayed on Curry, Durant got easy dunks in transition.

"The Warriors' season took an interesting turn late in the season".

Golden State points resulting from LeBron James' eight turnovers.

Since coaching the Warriors to their first two playoff triumphs this year, Kerr has been sidelined with nausea and migraine headaches due to complications from back surgery two years ago. Any second chance points allowed also spells death.

Curry also impressed on defense, a year after the Cavs took full advantage of him by switching on pick-and-rolls.

But someone from Cleveland, maybe many someones, had better find a way to make life tougher for the Warriors going forward starting on Sunday.

Everybody talks about Draymond Green's suspension and LeBron James' chasedown block, but the biggest reason Golden State collapsed previous year was Curry's injury. And yet, it didn't matter because the shooting guard more than made up for it on the defensive end, where he continues to be perpetually underrated. Divergent body types and skill-sets have prevented direct comparisons between Durant and James, but for any great player, Durant included and maybe especially, James has set the bar for achievement.

Outside of Cleveland's big three - James, Love and Irving - there weren't a lot of contributions from the rest of the roster.
