School may be out, but healthy meals are still in

"This program helps fill the gap and ensures children have access to free, healthy meals so they can continue to play, learn, and grow". If the kids are lucky, there's mayo.

Parents are welcome to attend, but breakfast will cost $2.50 and lunch will cost $3.50. No one wants bland sandwiches, but it's all Grayson and the rest of the club's staff have to offer. Oklahoma is among the worst when it comes to getting food to kids in need when school is out for the summer. Transportation could be a problem for those children, she said. "We've been scavenging for some donated food in our center, but we don't even have that much". It's a partnership between KENS 5 and the San Antonio Food Bank.

St. Louis County Library and Operation Food Search are teaming up to provide lunches to children this summer at select library locations. Meals will be provided to all children without charge, at various times and locations throughout the community. These meals will be served Monday-Thursday from June 5-Aug. 31.

That's the name of the program to offer free breakfasts and lunches to students across Oklahoma. "So it's important to us to have food available for kids who may not have food available at home in the summertime".

"I know of several families [in which] the kids show up in the morning to school and the last thing they had to eat was lunch the day before", Perry said.

While the program is for the poor, Parrish says any kid, 18 years old and younger, can receive a free lunch.

Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Deborah Gist spoke at the kickoff event along with State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister.

More than 16.5 million meals have been served in New Mexico through the federally-funded program since 2011. USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer. "But hunger doesn't take a vacation, either".

Crouch says the average dual income household in coastal Georgia brings in $40,808 per year. They're going to have their milk, their fruit, their vegetable for lunch.
