But, he noted, once a coach, always a coach: "Players are probably getting exhausted of me texting them because I'm texting them about things I see on tape".

According to NFLPA salary data, the Vikings gave $85,000 worth of signing bonuses to their 13 undrafted free agents, guaranteeing another $107,500 in base salaries for 2017.

Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has had a lot of time on his hands this week while sitting at home on his Kentucky ranch as his team went through optional practices in the Twin Cities.

Zimmer initially injured the eye when he scratched it during Minnesota's loss to the Chicago Bears on October 31.

Zimmer said he's been focused on leisurely activities to keep himself busy but stress-free. He said, 'No, it's not like that.

"The pressure was down, so that was a good thing", Zimmer said.

In three years coaching the Vikings, Zimmer has gone 26-22, with one division title and a heartbreaking playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He's catching up because he missed some of the workouts.

On second-year receiver Laquon Treadwell: "Laquon is an extremely hard worker". He'll come in in the evenings and work. He's running good routes.

As for Treadwell, he's developing "a trust" with the quarterbacks and is making progress toward becoming a productive receiver. That's most important. I think his game has expanded. But I don't love it too much this week. "He's throwing the ball well". "He's working his rear end off". In the evening, I'll watch the offense, which is basically the same plays you just see it from a different angle. He said Bridgewater "still has a long ways to go", but is progressing "as well as anyone could hope for".
