The remarks came after government agencies searched Congress leader P Chidambaram's premises and properties allegedly linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is set to file a case against former finance minister P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram and INX Media. INX Media was run by its directors Indrani Mukerjea and Peter Mukerjea. But he would continue to speak and write, he declared.

Reacting to the raids, Chidambaram said, there were no allegations against him in giving permissions during his tenure as the Union Finance Minister under the UPA government.

■ Karti Chidambaram: "They have not seized any documents and can not prove any charges against me. There is no allegation against me", he said in a statement. Karti had alleged "political vendetta" behind the searches and the CBI searches were "aimed at destroying my father's name".

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sambit Patra said the political leaders first challenge the government to launch a probe against them and once the investigating agency initiates a raid then they would start playing "vindictive politics agenda".

"In its three years, the BJP has given the nation an honest, scam-free government, a decisive leader and a pro-poor thrust on governance. Instead of introspecting where they are going wrong and why they lost the faith of people, the Congress is busy in raising non-important issues which the nation is not willing to accept", Power Minister Goyal said at a press conference.

Surjewala claimed that the truth was out there for everybody to judge and the government, blinded by revenge, was registering false cases against opposition leaders. West Bengal chief minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee also accused the Centre of unleashing political vendetta.

His son Karti Chidambaram is facing money laundering probe in connection with the Aircel-Maxis deal.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law Minister in the Narendra Modi Cabinet, was more forthcoming in targeting Chidambaram: "Cannot expect anything else from Chidambaram".

Prasad, however, sought to put up a courageous face, saying he was "not scared at all" and will continue to fight against the "fascist forces".

"BJP mein himmat nahi hai ki Lalu ki awaz ko daba sake". If it tries to silence one Lalu, crores of Lalu will come forward. Such a case will also open doors for ED to possibly attach assets in the case. "A profit worth Rs.1,000 crore is questionable, and hence he is under the scanner".
