Most Young Americans Consider Donald Trump an 'Illegitimate' President, Poll Says

A majority of young Americans view Donald Trump's presidency as illegitimate, including about three-quarters of black people and almost half of whites.

YThe 45 president of the United States has not been embraced by the country's youth, the poll found, with 57% of people aged 18-30 viewing President Trump as illegitimate, the Associated Press reported.

The survey of 1,833 Americans age 18-30, conducted between February 16 and March 6, has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

The poll also found about three quarters of black and Latino people surveyed by GenForward did not believe the president was legitimate, while 53% of white people polled did believe Trump was a legitimate president. Young Asian-American adults reported feeling similarly with only 36% of them saying that they believe Trump is legitimate. Forty-nine percent of respondents are part of a custom panel of young adults that uses an address-based sample from a registered voter database of the entire U.S and is recruited by mail and telephone.

NORC interviews participants over the phone if they don't have internet access.

Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish.

There are other sources of potential error in polls, including the wording and order of questions.
