Warning: Spoilers for "This Is Us" Season 1 ahead.

"This Is Us" is scheduled to return in the fall of 2017. The show is relatively simple, jumping between modern day and decades past to track the lives of three triplets and younger versions of their parents.

While Jack and Rebecca didn't eternally breakup forever, we saw a different kind of split between the Pearsons, with Rebecca saying it was time for them to take a rest.

Mandy Moore has heard the clamor of emotional fans who expected to find closure after Tuesday's tearjerking "This Is Us" season finale. Except what everyone assumed would happen. didn't.

Tell Us: Do you think there's a way for the show to bring Jack back from the dead?

The season finale and episodes prior to it demonstrate the effort it took for Jack and Rebecca to hide the fissures in their marriage. The flashback where Rebecca's having brunch with her smug, engaged friends, and defensively talking about her singing career, really helped to contextualize why she was so eager to go on tour with Ben's band. A freak accident? The final episode didn't include the kids at all- it was all about Jack and Rebecca.

The episode starts with where we left Jack and Rebecca - she is at a performance, he is drunkenly on his way to meet her; while many fans assumed that his drunk driving would lead to his death, he arrives safely at the venue, and continues to drink. It was an intimate look at Rebecca and Jack's relationship, and how their marriage had changed the course of their lives. He goes to her dressing room, but she isn't there. Jack, meanwhile, was a 28-year-old Vietnam veteran, and had been working odd jobs in hopes of getting out of his abusive father's house.

The two locked eyes and Jack skipped out on another blind date he was supposed to attend.

But viewers were also frustrated when This Is Us ended on a cliffhanger and failed to answer how Jack, played by Milo Ventimiglia, eventually dies on the hit NBC drama. "He knows when he just needs to step back for a moment and give his wife some space... but he's not going to leave without a little Papa Pearson words of wisdom about how much he loves his family and cares for his family".

No other series has served as such a reliable catalyst for damp-eyed catharsis, and in any other season that would have made "This Is Us" a joke.

"I stand in awe of this friend of mine", Moore captioned a photo of her and Ventimiglia on her Instagram.

Kate and Toby got engaged in season one, but never set a date for their wedding.

"This Is Us" viewers are obsessed with finding out how Milo Ventimiglia's character, Jack, died.

He agrees but not before declaring his love for her, answering her question as to all the reasons he loves her.

"I love the mother that you are". True to form, the writing is precise, with the ideal degree of emotion to delineate that while there's clearly a lot of love and devotion between the two, there are also some major communication issues that they need to address if they're to have any hope of a future together. But before a sobered-up Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) told Rebecca (Mandy Moore) that their love story was just getting started and walked out the door, Rebecca anxious that this trauma would affect her kids.
